Improving Form Appearance in Bubble Apps
Here's a couple of quick tips for anyone wanting to improve the look of a form that they're building in their Bubble app. Because frankly, the default checkbox element, which is perfect for working with those boolean or yes/no values in your database, leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn't look good. Well, let me show you a plugin called Ionic.
Introducing Planet No Code
But before I launch into that, if you're learning Bubble, there's no better place to go than planetnocode.com. We've got hundreds of Bubble tutorial videos, even more than you can find on our YouTube channel. We've got exclusive content for our members at planetnocode.com.
Installing the Ionic Plugin
So let's install the Ionic plugin and let me give you a demo of what we can do with this. First of all, I'm going to show off the Ionic toggle. Here we go. So you can do exactly the same things you can do with a checkbox. You can auto bind it. You can set a different default state. And when you refer to it and you're building out your submit form or create new thing, modify thing workflow, then it's simply you can refer to Ionic toggle A, yes/no, and it will put the value into the field.
Previewing the Ionic Toggle
Let's have a preview of this. Again, we've got a lovely bit of animation in there. It looks great. We can also, of course, change the color. Let's do that. So let's change it to royal. I think that's purple. Yeah, there we go. We can see.
Using Rows for Layout
And just as a quick lesson in how to use rows, we can add this into a row. We can take our text so we can create a label for it. And then we could do something like add in a gap between elements, say eight, and then center this. And that's our label.
Introducing the Ionic Checkbox
Okay, so that's the toggle. Now what about a checkbox? I'm going to copy and paste that, remove the toggle, and let's go down and try the Ionic checkbox. Personally, I always end up going for the toggle. I just think it looks good. So change this to positive and we'll preview that. And there's the Ionic checkbox.
Conclusion
So there you have it. That is how you can make a much more attractive form. Doesn't one of these look better than that?
